In less than two weeks, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), of which Burma is a member, will meet with President Obama in Sunnylands, California for a two day summit. This is an important opportunity for the President of our country to express the urgency with which ASEAN must act to end the genocide destroying the Rohingya. Soon, “sailing season” will begin in Southeast Asia. Last year an estimated 12,000 Rohingya fled Burma for safety in neighboring nations, only 3,000 made it ashore. The rest are unaccounted for, most are feared dead. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya live in concentration camps where they are fed just 200 calories more than Nazi Concentration camps.
