BREAKING: Innocent Rohingya Murdered By Burma Border Police
Burma’s Border Guard Police in Rakhine state has a history of abusing Rohingya in Rakhine state. The past few months have seen cases of murder, intimidation and theft perpetrated by Border Guard Police. Now news reports from the region indicate that a Rohingya teenager, just 14 years-old, has also been killed by Border police. The BurmaTimes reports that he was shot to death by the BGP by a border outpost near the entrance of the Shewza river on Sunday night at 9:00pm.
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Rafique 17 s/o Sayed Alam of Shweza of Maung Daw Township. Mohamed Rafique including four other fishermen of Shweza village went to catch fish in a row boat together at the Shweza, river in the evening of Sunday on 10th of January 2016. There, the BGP from the Outpost of river entrance saw them fishing in the river and suddenly fired on the fishermen where Rafique was dead at the spot and the four others managed to escape, according to a man from the fishing row boat staffs who declined to mention his name.
