In the United Nations, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) nations have worked to weaken the current resolution in the UN General Assembly calling for an arms embargo on Myanmar. In addition, ASEAN leaders have announced plans to visit Myanmar in the coming week. If this visit goes through, it is crucial that ASEAN also meet with opposition to the coup, either in Myanmar (which would be risky) or in neighboring Thailand.
