Bangladesh and Burma met last week to agree on “intelligence sharing”

Officials from both Bangladesh and Burma met last week to agree on “intelligence sharing” regarding ARSA, shifting all blame to the militant group (a favorite ploy of the Tatmadaw) and apparently failing to address the recent Burmese military disrespectfully crossing the border. There was also no mention of the new ceasefire brokered between the Burmese military and the Arakan Army, which also once again raises questions about the safety of the remaining Rohingya minority in Rakhine State.

As we approach the annual observance of Human Rights Day, Burma Task Force is finalizing a new video with testimony regarding conditions in Bhasan Char, which despite everything the international community appears to have accepted as a place for Rohingya refugees. The video will contain images never seen before. However, many questions still remain, and need to be asked.

Burmese Military Laughs at the World

We commend our colleagues at Burmese Rohingya Organization UK, on the occasion of their new report describing how the military continues to ignore the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). We urge our readers to review this report and then to write to the “Penholder on Burma” UK to ensure that stronger sanctions are implemented on all countries and corporations that do business with the Burmese perpetrators of genocide: geneva.un@fco.gov.uk CC: Gurr.salmond@fco.gov.uk and nina.hindley@fco.gov.uk
