Supporting Genocide Survivor Solidarity

During Ramadan we continued to build solidarity among survivors of genocide.

Please also view the April 22 Panel on Genocide, which Justice for All organized in partnership with the UN NGO Committee on Human Rights to mark April as Genocide Awareness Month.

This emotional program features speakers from seven communities that have experienced genocide: Rohingya, Uyghur, Yezidi, Darfuri, Bosnian Muslim, Rwandan Tutsi and Armenian. The UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues also spoke.

We hope to be organizing a follow up discussion with still other communities, encouraging support for stronger genocide prevention policies and actions. Response to genocide is almost always extremely slow and ineffective. Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine has resulted in unprecedented sanctions by the international community, but this same level of response could have been effective in stopping the escalation of hate campaigns into full genocide. Let’s not forget the situation in India, or the mass atrocities in Ethiopia.
