Rohingya youth asks Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the United Nations to stop dishonest and inhuman acts of APBN police

August 3, 2022

Instead of keeping Rohingya safe, the APBN has created a new strategy of falsely accusing Rohingya, imprisoning them and extorting money.

A police force fully responsible for all aspects of security in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh, the APBNs have systematically used harsh and sometimes unfair tactics against the Rohingya since late September 2021, extorting money, using violence, and sending some to prison and long-term detention.

Trust is at a new low point now with allegations that an APBN officer has killed a young Rohingya woman, Yasmin Aktar.

News of torture, such as arrested Rohingya refugees being beaten to the point of death with internal and external injuries, has not reached the world community and is being hidden. Rohingya camp commanders (Mazis) often tell media that the APBN is good because the Mazis are under pressure. International Rohingya leaders sometimes investigate these tortures with a sense of responsibility but do not provide timely and necessary assistance, which is very sad for the Rohingya refugees.

Certainly the camps need better security, since there have been murders recently. But many Rohingya have come to believe that some APBN are deeply corrupt and working with traffickers and other criminal elements.

Some APBN officers are exploiting the WY drug dealers who do business with them, and even extorting money from honest people by falsely claiming to be related to the WY business. Whoever it is and whatever they do, it’s all self-centered activity without any vision of common interest/goal.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh should investigate and take action to prevent the Rohingya people from being made miserable, by preventing beating and torture. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh can understand that Rohingya youth wish to stand tall. We cannot allow our generation to be humiliated and lost.
