Tillerson Speaks: Myanmar ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ Rohingya

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says Myanmar’s action against the Rohingya constitutes ethnic cleansing. However, a senior state department official said the term “ethnic cleansing” does not imply consequences. The U.S. must classify the atrocities in Burma as “genocide.” Classifying it as “genocide,” would obligate the U.S. to punish the perpetrators and send them to the World Court.
