International Law Needs To Have Independent Impact, Says Dr. Gianni Tognoni

Dr. Gianni Tognani, The Secretary General, Permanent People’s Tribunal, Rome, Italy Extra-UN Tribunal Approaches to Dealing with Mass Atrocities, spoke at the Policy Plenary in the Oslo Conference about the plight of Rohingyas and their victimization under the Myanmar government. He said victims don’t want to be further victimized – rather they want to look towards the future, and for that to happen, there needs to be awareness of genocide in the communities in Myanmar.

He also stressed the importance of international law becoming a separate entity, free from influence of other hegemonic nations, delivering verdict independently and impacting communities and nations on a different level.
