WHAT: Capitol Hill Advocacy Day 2019
WHERE: Capitol Hill. Washington D.C.
WHEN: June 18-19, 2019 at 9:00 AM
Capitol Hill Advocacy Day is on June 19, 2019 in Washington DC.
We are going to the Hill to advocate for Uyghurs and other minorities in China who are over 1-3 million are being held in concentrations camps. We will meet with legislators about:
S. 178: Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019
H.R.649 – Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019
Minorities in Burma Advocacy
We are going to the Hill to advocate for Rohingya, Kachin, Karen, Chin and other oppressed people in Burma. Persecution has led to mass atrocities and has led to genocide. Over a million languish in refugee camps in Burma and hundreds of thousands are still in severe in danger inside Burma.
The goal of the day is for concerned advocates from across the country to converge on Capitol Hill to meet with their legislators in the Senate and House, and to urge them to pass Senate Bill S. 1186 is the “Bill to Promote Democracy and Human Rights in Burma.”
We need to generate support for this bill, as it will allow the U.S. government to levy economic sanctions on Burma’s military officials who are complicit in the atrocities against the Rohingya.
Our past efforts have resulted in hundreds of millions in humanitarian aid and the US Congress declaring it genocide. YOU can make a difference.
See you on Capitol Hill!
We will be contacting you about buses from certain cities.
