Letter to the National Unity Government: In a letter we organized, Burmese leaders of North…
On March 3, 2015, the Rakhine State Divisional Court sentenced Rohingya Leaders Ba Thar, Kyaw Myint and his son Hla Myint to 8-year sentences and Kyaw Khin to a 5-year sentence. Amnesty International calls them prisoners of conscience and is demanding their immediate release. We need your help to get them released.
These leaders have been charged with violent offenses during an April 2013 community protest. However, Amnesty International says it has reliable information that the leaders did not use violence. All these leaders had either been acquitted, granted amnesty, or finished their sentences, but the court granted the state’s appeal, and the state has put them back in prison.
